The importance of technology

 Nowadays, the vast majority of people wouldn’t be able to live without, at least, one technological device. We have shaped ourselves in a way where we have become dependent on today’s advances and, because of this, technology has become a crucial part of our lives.

Google was a turning point in history. This corporation opened a new era in technology and, owing to it, we now have a lot of information at our fingertips. Had people who lived before Google had the chance to use it, they wouldn’t have probably used encyclopedias, but this platform. This same thought could be applied to Gmail. It is an extension of Google that has allowed thousands of people around the world to send files and information without having to have face-to-face meetings. In addition to this, Zoom has meant a changing point in history. Everything we think of can be made via zoom: talking, playing games, and, what’s more, teaching.

Added to this, due to the virus, we have had to completely change our lifestyles. Before the world changed, young people were taught at schools and universities and adults had to work in their workplaces. People would interact with others, continuing to develop their social skills. On the contrary, now, almost nothing can be done in person. Through the main platforms, we have been able to maintain the needed social interaction. Nonetheless, people are becoming more distant, less amicable, and, instead, they are putting all their attention into their work, as there is nothing else they can do.

Last but not least, social media play an essential role in today’s technology. It has brought many people together and, at the same time, it has made people develop a sense of bravery because of the anonymity they have. Applications, such as Twitter, have made people become disrespectful. Users do not hold back at the sight of an opinion that doesn’t match theirs and, that is why arguments are the most seen things in this app. Moreover, social media have not developed only disrespect, but also jealousy. This trait is usually seen on Instagram, where people post the most exciting parts of their lives. On account of this, many people stop talking to others, or even block them in all their social media, just because they see their friends were having a good time, while they were going through a rough time.

In conclusion, technology can be considered a double-edged sword. Because of our current situation, we have had to adapt to the resources that we have had at our disposal, Zoom among other platforms, yet technology has also made people become less social, more jealous, and less respectful. Nonetheless, the positive aspects outweigh the negative side of technology.
